-
- OK Bertrand you asked for some feedback on the CharSpecs ...
- (I think the main reason people haven't given you feedback is they don't feel qualified to
- do so ! Like me.)
-
- Anyway I'll post it here to maybe encourage others to look at your good work.
-
-
- My first impression is that BM will turn out to like a graphical LP MUD !
- (Maybe like Towers II ??)
- If you want to look at a MUD theres an Atari version at:
-
- ftp://ftp.uni-paderborn.de/pub/atari/games/lpmud312.lzh
-
- The idea is to create like a complete version of Doom first, isn't it?
- And then add BMW bits afterwards ? (Maybe Bad Mood 2 !)
-
- The Header part is fine ! Not much you can really put in a header ...
- Likewise the Identity ... although in it you talk about the samples being as WAVs, as its
- Doom for the Atari they should be something like AVRs or something more native :-)
-
- For the alignment area I'm not to sure I've understood it. Is it possible to have multiple
- alignments, like Lawful and Good ? But you can;t have Evil and Lawful as they are
- impossible.
- Or does each character have just one which can change with his status (killing of nice or
- evil people, good deeds etc.)
-
- I like the GOTCHA sample bit. Like in Doom when you are killed off, you scream and the
- viewpoint follows the victor, just after you die the victims screen should pan round to
- the winner and you should hear his GOTCHA cry, just before your screen fades away!
-
- I think with the Pointer to samples section there should perhaps be a RANDOM selection
- where if you have 3 different WAR CRYs then it will randomly choose one as you go into
- attack mode.
-
- Characteristics.
- Hmmm Gold Coins ?? Are we to have shops and malls ? Like in the Ishar games you can goto
- shops to buy better weapons. Or is it for bribery etc. ?
- Does that also mean some of the monsters will carry an amount of money which is ready for
- collection on their death ?
-
- If levels are fairly small (like some in the original Doom game) then money and shops aren't
- really an issue. But if you have a BMW that is the size of say the Ishar game area and it
- takes you 20 mins to get side to side then it may be worth it.
-
- Weight is a good one. After all if you're a Fat Bastard then you're more likely to fall
- into traps or set off something :-)
-
- Also should hit points be separated to legs and arms or should you have a total amount of
- hit points which are removed on each hit.
- That could mean if you're left leg is always attacked do you lose your left leg but still
- be alive ??
-
- Inventory.
- There doesn't seem to be an array for the MAX amount of weight/items that a player may
- hold in the backpack. You say only one item can be carried on the head, eyes, chest, legs,
- hands and feet, but is there a limit for the backpack ?
-
- The joypad section looks very extensive ! I'm sure nothing was left out from there !
-
- Well I've now read it all and there seems like nothing else thats confusing or should be
- included ...
- I like the idea of having to complete tasks or quests, but I think the levels would have
- to be restructured so you have say just one level per BMW and on that level you have 2
- quests or whatever to complete.
-
- If Bad Mood is to incorporate all these suggestions for the BMW then it has to have
- Internet or Networking capabilities. Nothing would be more sad than having all this world
- to investigate on your own, and without other places to interact with and kill :-)
-
- My gut feeling is that there is _alot_ to incorporate into a game and I would be very
- happy with a straight Doom conversion to the Falcon first, then all the BMW extras later.
-
- I hope I've made some sense - but at least I've had a stab at reading the charspecs,
- right?
